Practice Areas

Mr. Jamil's practice concentrates on the areas of governmental affairs, corporate governance, employment and labor disputes, education law, municipal law and complex commercial and real estate transactions involving both public and private sectors.  Mr. Jamil provides general counsel legal services involving real estate, education matters, employment and labor matters, zoning, land use, contracts, procurement and licensing and/or regulatory matters on behalf of governmental entities, not-for-profit organizations and various corporate clients.  Mr. Jamil also has rendered legal counsel in various commercial transactions and licensing matters involving real estate, real estate tax incentives and various state and municipal regulations.

Legal Experience

Mr. Jamil is a Partner in the Firm's transaction practice group.  Prior to joining the Firm in 2013, he was Chief Legal Counsel for the Illinois Medical District Commission for more than six years where he acquired significant experience in real estate, commercial leasing transactions, land acquisition, zoning, procurement, employment and Illinois Open Meetings Act issues.  Mr. Jamil negotiated several public-private transactions involving large-scale commercial projects, including the construction of a fixed base operation and landing facility for helicopters serving both private and public sectors.  He also served with the City of Chicago, Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection, in a number of legal and leadership positions including Deputy Commissioner of Public Vehicle Operations which regulates the City of Chicago's taxicab industry, for more than 10 years.
