Members of our Firm have extensive experience representing public pension funds and are well-versed in the types of statutory, legal and investment-related issues that affect a pension system and its board of trustees. We have represented numerous governmental entities, providing advice and counsel on all facets of plan administration and investment manager selection. Members of our Firm possess the skills and experience necessary to handle any type of pension-related legislation, and our emphasis on personal communication enables us to tailor our approach to suit the particular needs of our clients. A sample of representative matters in which members of our Firm have successfully participated are as follows:

  • Counseled Fund Trustees as to their fiduciary responsibilities in respect to all matters relating to Fund administration and investment policies.

  • Researched and drafted Pension Fund policy positions regarding Trustee fiduciary responsibilities, including those that relate to FOIA, Open Meetings and best practices issues.

  • Counseled pension funds in respect to the implementation of the landmark 2009 Illinois ethics reform law effecting sweeping changes to pension board rules pertaining to conflicts of interest.

  • Negotiated and drafted numerous investment agreements, including, without limitation, those related to private equity, venture capital, hedge funds and other alternative investment categories.

  • Counseled Fund Trustees in respect to the conduct of hundreds of administrative hearings and in respect to all administrative review proceedings relating thereto.
