Our Firm

Since inception in 1992, the goals of Burke, Burns & Pinelli, Ltd. have included creating a law firm capable of providing the highest quality legal services in a wide range of practice areas, keeping our clients’ costs at a reasonable level, and providing exceptional client service. Our ambition also was to establish and operate BBP as an accredited Women’s Business Enterprise where women would not only have the opportunity to practice law, but also have primary responsibility in working with clients and engaging directly in the business process of building and operating a successful law firm.

Experience and Approach

A quarter century later, our core values and founding goals are stronger than ever. BBP has established a reputation for excellence in all of its practice areas. Our clients include Illinois state and local government agencies as well as municipalities, for-profit businesses, non-profit organizations, and countless individuals. We take great pride in the longstanding relationships we have developed over the years with many of our clients.

BBP attorneys have a wealth of experience in both complex transactional legal services and sophisticated federal and state litigation. We remain committed to our founding goals of serving each client in proactive ways, listening carefully to every client’s needs and goals, and implementing a plan of action to achieve the optimum outcome in the most direct way.

Many of BBP's new clients come from recommendations of our existing clients, which serves as a testament to the exceptional level of our client service and quality of our legal work. The strengths we offer to clients include our depth and breadth of experience, as well as our approach to practicing law.

During all stages of advising or representing a client, communication with the client is our paramount objective. We listen carefully to a client’s concerns, identify the key issues, and develop responsive strategies to achieve successful outcomes in a cost effective and timely manner.

Certified Women’s Business Enterprise

BBP takes great pride in continuing to be a certified Women’s Business Enterprise, a commitment we have nurtured consistently over the years. We are committed to maintaining the diversity of our workforce, meeting our goal of having at least 50% women lawyers and significant minority representation on our staff. Our firm has also succeeded in reaching our core goal of advancing women’s career goals. Several attorneys from the firm have gone on to become judges or to open their own firms.

Our founding partners have more than 100 years of collective experience practicing law and providing excellence in client service. Over time, the environment created at BBP has fostered the growth of our lawyers and staff members.

Founding Partners

Our firm’s longevity is attributable to the values and goals of its founders. Throughout his career, Edward Burke has maintained a focused, aggressive practice with steadfast loyalty and dedication to his clients. Mary Patricia Burns has a keenly analytical mind that excels at quickly grasping complicated issues and developing responsive strategies. Clients benefit from Vincent Pinelli's extensive litigation experience and from his insights gained from working on both sides of those practice area issues.

Together, the three founding partners have built BBP into a venerable Chicago firm with a reputation for providing the highest quality legal service in both transactional and litigation matters, as well as extraordinary dedication to clients.
