Matthew Lewin
Matthew (Matt) Lewin is Of Counsel at Burke Burns & Pinelli, Ltd., where he focuses on municipal finance.
Mr. Lewin has devoted his entire legal career to acting as bond counsel, underwriter's counsel and in other legal roles on a wide variety of public financings throughout Illinois and the United States. From 2007 through 2019, he headed the Chicago public finance group for a large national law firm, after having spent 26 years as a partner at another large Chicago-based national law firm focused on finance.
Over the course of his legal career, Mr. Lewin's practice has centered on tax-exempt financings for multi-family affordable housing, public housing, charter schools, elementary, secondary and higher education facilities, health care and miscellaneous 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization facilities, small issue (manufacturing) and solid waste financings for landfills and other facilities, utilities, port facilities, empowerment zone facilities, airports, stadiums and governmental facilities.
